I'll start by saying how delighted we are with the response to our plans for the bakery. On social media, in print and in the community Chris and I have been absolutely blown away by the positive feedback we've received, along with your favorite memories of the bakery, the people and the delicious cakes, tomato pie, donuts, sticky buns, and even a special request for cherry crumb pie! We are so grateful to all of you for your support, and we can't wait to begin operating the bakery again.
I also have to take a moment to recognize the Mosellie family and their tireless work over the last 4 decades and more. Easton Baking is an institution at least as much because of their dedication and commitment to the greater Easton community as their excellent confectionery and bakery products. George, Mitzi and Patty have been tremendously patient and helpful through this entire process, and we feel honored to be able to carry on their work.
My intention is to keep everyone abreast of the developments leading up to our re-opening by posting at least weekly; however, I'll ask you to forgive me in advance if I miss one or two leading up to the holidays. We are coordinating a lot of work in the building as well as processes for permitting, utilities and other necessities, and there always seems to be a million things to do.
If you pass by the bakery you'll notice a good sign: there's a dumpster out front. I've been busy preparing for the installation of new ceilings in the bakery and storefront, and there will be quite a bit of debris from the plumbing and electrical upgrades we'll be doing in the coming weeks. As this work progresses, I'll continue to post updates. Major milestones will include a new electrical service, completion of the ceiling renovation, painting the interior and some other, less visible work like internet installation and maintenance of the boilers.
Unfortunately the work itself will take several more weeks, and we don't anticipate being able to open before sometime in January 2020. In the meantime, please keep checking the site for new information and updates.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Eric
I remember my nana sending me to the Bakery as a child to pick up a loaf of bread on a Sat morning when I was younger. I would come home to report which donuts they still had by 7am and she would send me back to get the one I wanted as I was praying they still had my donut. No one does a better Jelly filled donut than Easton Bakery. We stop by EVERY time we are in town for our treats for the road. 😋
Can’t wait for the doors to open again! Please bring back these cookies too! I’ve been getting these since I was a kid (along with the awesome tomato pie) so hopefully they make it back to the bakery!
Can't wait! We have been lost without our cannoli birthday cakes, tomato pie and glazed doughnuts! Wish you much success!
Thank you for carrying on the tradition! We've been lost as a community with out the great tastes of the Easton Bakery.
Can't wait for the grand opening
